What’s up Nation? Yesterday I published a video promising you an armory video (a few of you have been asking for one), and today I deliver! My Nerf collection is certainly smaller than some others, but it’s organized! :] I may be getting something else soon; if I do I’m sure you’ll find out, and if the armory changes a great deal I’ll make an update video. Hope you like it!
So my soon-to-be-favorite-blaster-of-all-freakin’-time hit shelves today. The Pyragon was publicly launched this morning with the Nerf N-Strike Elite line, and well, here are some pictures of this massive white whale of a blaster! 😀
Up until recently people have been wondering if the 40-round Vortex drum was designed specifically for the Pyragon, or if it’s a universal Vortex clip. Welp, the box says it’s universal. That means that if you feel like switching things up for a battle, or if you’re in a war with a no-rapid-fire rule, you can still use this massive clip in either the Nitron or Praxis. Nice move Nerf.
Vas the Stampede from Foam From Above has received his Nerf Vortex Pyragon! He gives us high def. pictures of this unreleased blaster, and mentions future releases on the box art. I’ll just get out of the way and let the pictures do the talking. 😉
This thing looks like a beast, and I can’t wait to use it against some zombies.*cough cough* Nerf, send me one! *cough!* This is also the first pic. we have of the Pyragon with a stock attached, which makes it look even bigger and tougher.
Notice in the thumbnail that the Refreshed Nitron comes with an extra 10-disc clip, and the new Vortex Shield. That, up until now, was unconfirmed. Way to go Vas!
Vas also goes over the drum mag in more detail than we’ve had before. We now know that each interior clip is numbered, and your remaining ammo can easily be monitored by using the large, rear window. This blaster has GOT to be one of (if not THE) most powerful blaster yet. Way to go Nerf!!
Nerf announced on FaceBook today that the new Vortex Pyragon, the most powerful blaster in the Vortex line up so far, will be released to the Nation on the 1st of August, just two weeks away. My trigger finger is already itching. How ’bout yours? 😉
What’s that on the horizon? Looks like the first-ever drum fed Nerf Vortex blaster, featuring 40 disc capacity and slam-fire capability. The Vortex Pyragon blaster, hitting shelves 8/1. The future looks bright.
Mr. K and Mr. S of AFON have DEFINITELY delivered this time. As many of you know, they were two of the guys invited to the N-Stike Elite launch party that occurred in New York this past weekend. They took footage of the highlights at the launch, and now they’ve edited it all together to show you all the Nerfy goodness that went down. Pictures are great, but video is even better! Check out their hour long special below. It’s certainly worth the watch.
Summary – Ladies and gentlemen, we have dart hoses
Alright, So if you’ve ever wanted to burn through 25 darts in 4 seconds, AFON is about to make you very VERY happy. Matt and Travis were able to get their hands on all the new blasters, and they got plenty of video to show them off to you. Not only were there great shots of the Retaliator and Rampage, but they give us an exclusive look at the Hail-fire and even give us a demo of the Pyragon.
First up on the Hail-Fire; the guys show us the clear (and very open) jam door. I really think the clear idea was a great one by the Nerf engineers, because it just oozes practicality. Now players won’t have to wonder if they have a jam or are just out of ammo. They can easily see a jammed dart, and that makes for faster fixes and reloads.
Next they show us the clip carousel. It can store up to eight straight clips, or two 25 dart drums with straits placed in between. No word yet on how many 18 round drums or 35 round drums it can store yet, but they do give their thoughts on the subject. They also coined the idea of putting eight 18 round quick-reload clips into one Hail-Fire, using flip-clip attachments to mount eight MORE 18 round quick-reload clips, and then attaching ANOTHER Hail-Fire onto that! Pretty cool idea, except that the blasters would be trying to spin the clips in opposite directions. :p
And then they showed the rate of fire. This was probably one of my favorite parts of the video. That thing CHEWS through ammo! The guys loaded one up with a couple 25 dart Rampage drums, some standard 6 round clips, and maybe I saw an 18 round reload clip, and that thing is a HOSE! The Hail-Fire empties a 6 dart clip in just over a second, an 18 rounder in about three, and a 25 dart drum in just over four seconds. Believe me when I say the darts were practically touching tip to tail when they left the blaster. It looks like whatever new flywheel tech the Hail-fire offers keeps the motors from slowing down after each dart. There’s also a massive firing bar that helps with the propulsion.
Next up was the Pyragon. Mr. K and Mr. S didn’t delve too much into it, but we got a very nice shot of Mr. K emptying the 40 round clip in six seconds. *whispers* I think Mr. S can beat ‘im. *winks in Mr. S’s direction*. The drum the Pyragon uses to store it’s ammo is comprised of four smaller clips that rotate within it. Mr. K showed us that we don’t have to manually switch to another inner-clip when one is emptied. It’s all automatic.
All in all, AFON is friggin’ awesome for getting us this footage and giving their very well educated opinions on them. Check their blog out. They definitely deserve it.
Here it is! Man I’ve been waiting for this thing for months, and am still saving specifically for THIS blaster. The Vortex Pyragon!
Nerf Vortex Pyragon Demo Video
This blaster is essentially a Praxis combined with a Raider. Keep in mind that this blaster now has the second highest ammo storage of ANY nerf blaster (unless you load down something with a few raider drums). I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these! 😀
The Nerf Vortex Pyragon is scheduled to release sometime in August of 2012, and will retail for $39.99.
Nerf has just posted the prices for all N-Strike Elite gear on the official Hasbro site. Now you can start thinking about how much you want to spend, and what exactly you can get for that amount, so start planning your new armory now! :] It looks like there are several pieces in the Elite line that we didn’t know about before, like the Elite bandolier and Elite Tactical Vest. There are also different sized packages of Elite darts shown and even the price for the new Nerf Pyragon. You can also click “where to buy” to figure out exactly where the blaster you want will be in stock.
And just in case the link decides to stop working (like the new Elite blaster video links, grrrr) here are a few screenshots showing all the new gear. Bon appetit. ^_^
