A couple of weeks ago I published a poll asking you all what you would like to be called as a whole, sort of like the ShiningFoam team name. And a lot of you were really supportive of it! Thank you for that. :] So here are the results: While I got suggestions ranging from “potatoes” to “foamers” (I really wanna call BasicNerf potato head now *laughs*), most of the interest revolved around “The Shining Nation” and “Shinies”. And with a victory of only two votes… Shinies won. Now here’s where I twist things a little bit. I’m viewing you all as individual shinies, and collectively you form the Shining Nation. Does that make sense. Hope so.
Oh! I’ve also got a new page on this blog that is devoted to all the Shinies of the land! ALL the Shinies! In case you haven’t looked at it yet, the page is serving as a global phone book designed specifically to let Nerfers find others interested in the hobby and connect with them. I’ve already got the first member up, Qi from Singapore! Qi has sent me his picture, along with links to his Nerf sites, and now his pretty face is proudly displayed on the page as a member of the Shining Nation. Follow Qi’s example, and get featured on this site!
Email your photos of yourself playing with Nerf products, your first name(s), and any other information such as your email address, blog, YouTube channel, or even cell phone number (no house phones) to HvZAuburn@gmail.com. I’ll make a little synopsis for you and you’ll be displayed on the page! Easy as that! So come on and make some friends! ;D
Nerf is currently hosting a competition for the best fan-made Nerf ad. The grand prize is $10,000, several second prize winners receive the full (current) N-Strike Elite lineup, and about 150 more people will win either a Nerf Swarmfire or Nitron. The contest ends either on August 22nd, or when 5,000 videos have been submitted, whichever comes first. So get those cameras rolling, and take the challenge! I did!
Yep, while I’m not allowed to show you my submission until after the contest is over, I can show you a sneak peak. 😉 If by chance my video gets featured on the Battle of the Ads website, show me some love and help it get a good rating! I can’t wait to see what you produce yourselves!
Tons of you have been wondering where episode 5 (Mission 2 part 4) has been, and I found it! It was hiding under my bed, eating lost Nerf discs and afraid to come out because it felt it wasn’t action-y enough. But I eventually coaxed it into the daylight! I also gave it some commentary because gosh it wasn’t action-y! Sorry for the delay guys! I straight up forgot about this episode and skipped it in production! HvZ season 1 is complete!
Hey guys, so I was contacted earlier today by a guy named AwesomeNerfer1999, who has a blog, by the way. Awesome had taken a close look at the box art of the new Firestrike, the elitified version of the Nitefinder, and he noticed something pretty unique about it. The thing has two triggers. Now I don’t know if anybody has posted about this before, but his is the only site I’ve seen mention it. On the box art you can see one large tigger, partially hidden by the docking strap on the Elite Tactical Vest, and another smaller one beneath it. Awesome speculates (and I agree) that this secondary trigger is likely to operate the Firestrikes underbelly light, assuming the Firestrike still has a light. This freedom of control over the light would be an awesome addition to the blasters functionality when it comes to stealth missions. The Nightfinders light HAD to come on before it would fire, not the best for sneaky attacks.
Another idea Awesome has is that Nerf may have upgraded the light itself. While this is unconfirmed, Nerf has been upgraded many of its products, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the new Firestrike features a light that reaches further than the Nightfinders (about 15 feet, remember?).
So shinies, what ELSE could this curious little trigger be? Tell me in the comments! And visit AwesomeNerfer1999 for another cool site to look at.
Spotted this on Jason’s blog, and thought it was too good to not highlight. PDK films, a larger Nerfing videographer within the ONC, has created a absolutely insane video titled “Nerf Nightmare 2”. It is VERY well edited, and definitely gives off a chilling effect. Don’t watch before bed. Awe who am I kidding. Knock yourself out. 😉 Sleep tight.
Vas the Stampede from Foam From Above has received his Nerf Vortex Pyragon! He gives us high def. pictures of this unreleased blaster, and mentions future releases on the box art. I’ll just get out of the way and let the pictures do the talking. 😉
This thing looks like a beast, and I can’t wait to use it against some zombies.*cough cough* Nerf, send me one! *cough!* This is also the first pic. we have of the Pyragon with a stock attached, which makes it look even bigger and tougher.
Notice in the thumbnail that the Refreshed Nitron comes with an extra 10-disc clip, and the new Vortex Shield. That, up until now, was unconfirmed. Way to go Vas!
Vas also goes over the drum mag in more detail than we’ve had before. We now know that each interior clip is numbered, and your remaining ammo can easily be monitored by using the large, rear window. This blaster has GOT to be one of (if not THE) most powerful blaster yet. Way to go Nerf!!
What’s up mah shinies!? (Poll is still going but Shinies is winning) :] So I’m sure that some of you know that about a week ago I published an un-edited hour long special showcasing the 1 day HvZ event that happened on my campus. I’m sure that a lot MORE of you noticed that it was a freakin’ hour long! Knowing that super crazy long videos aren’t most peoples cup o’ tea, I made an abridged version! The only thing the new version lacks is the suspense, while still retaining 100% of the action, and shows you how I lead the humans to victory! (well, for a while at least). The new vid is only 15 minutes, so if you’re in the mood for some fast paced zombie stunnin’ action, kick back, relax, and let the darts fly!
